Volunteer Job Position Opening

The Long Island Bicycle CO-OP is an “all-volunteer” 501(c)(3) organization that repairs bicycles and gives them to people who may need/want them. The CO-OP needs one or more individuals to fill the role of managing our St. James showroom, where bikes are available for re-entry into the community, along with a small stock of bike accessories available for purchase by those who accept our bikes. (Flexible day/hour schedule.)

Job Title: Showroom/Shoppe Manager

Job Description:
•    Commit to a day/hour timeframe to manage the showroom.
•    Welcome people who are looking for a bike for themselves or their children.
•    Help people through the selection process, making sure the bike is sized correctly for them.
•    Assist people with the purchase of accessories (helmet, lights, basket) they want for the bike.
•    Make sure people sign the necessary waiver after they decide to take a bike.
•    Maintain an inventory record of bikes given away and accessories sold.

Job Qualifications:
•    Interest in enriching the community by giving bikes to those who need/want them and working with a team of people that make this process possible.
•    Interest in learning about bikes, including how to size them for people.
•    Commit to day/hour timeframe, when you will be responsible for the job description actions.
•    No other qualifications are required. We will teach you the whatever you need to know about this job.
