A B- ride but because of the twists, turns and hills it comes in at a high C+/B or a low B-. There will be wait ups as needed and stops to look at the views. This is a very scenic ride with many water views along the way.
There is no formal snack stop so bring along anything you need. We will stop at the lighthouse and the beach. The library is not open when we leave but if necessary we can swing by there before or after Strongs Neck if bathrooms are needed.
Let's meet at the parking lot across from the Maples bar and Head East https://youtu.be/QgD-NwCtvrA, for a Thunderbird ride along a scenic route to Cutchogue. We'll head down Route 24 to Riverhead. Then it's along the Peconic Bay on Peconic Bay Boulevard, leading us out to New Suffolk Road and Grathwohl Road. We'll have a stop at the deli in Cutchgoue at around 24 miles.
After the stop, we'll head back along Peconic Bay and then ride some backroads around Riverhead. Then it's onto Forge / Dam / South River Roads to get us to River Road and the finish.
This will be an endurance paceline ride, so no jumping the pace! The target is a moderate heart rate and keeping everyone together, so we can get some milers in for the late season metric and full century events that are comng in Fall. So, figure on a pace that gets us home with a solid B/B+ averge with everyone on the team still smiling!
Leave a comment, if you will be coming, so we have an idea of the group's size...
