We will be going to the beach today. Same route as last week. The average will come in between 14.5 and 14.9 mph., plus or minus a tad. In order to get this average the road speeds will be between 14.5 and 16.5 mph. Going downhill, or with the wind at your back will be faster. The main objective is to finish the ride without being too concerned about the average. The average will depend mainly on the wind, the hills, and who shows up. We will stay together and there will be one or two break-a-ways for those who want. We will l take a break at the Beach and a rest stop at Wertheim about mile 10. As always pulls are appreciated.
If you have any questions or concerns please text me at 631.484.3490. Should there be a cancelation, or change it will be posted by 7:15am.
This ride will be a mostly flat paceline ride from Southaven County Park to Wading River.
We've tried to keep the route a little flatter for those of you who hate the hills! The predicted winds will be low with temperatures in the 70s, but overcast, so it will hopefully be a good day for a ride! (So far, no prediction of rain). AND Yes, we will control the pace, so everyone can ride together...
We'll start by heading-up River Road and crossing Wiiliam Floyd Parkway to get to Manorville. Then we'll head to points north. We'll stop just short of half-distance for a break at the deli or bagel shop in Wading River.
After the stop in Wadfing River, it's down through the old Grumman property, and through Manorville. Then it's a do it at your own pace finish down Willaim Floyd and along Victory Blvd!
Today's Mi Tierrita ride will be going to the Beach. The route is mostly flat with a small incline here and there. The average pace for the ride will be between 15 to 16.0 mph, depending on the roads and wind direction. The road speed will be between 17.0 and 18.0 mph. The usual break-a-ways will happen for those who desire. We'll stop along the way for a bathroom break around mile 10. Don’t forget to bring a snack. Do you know what AGUAPANELA is? Come and find out. Pulls are appreciated.
Come join us for a Moriches exploration as we head down and ride around the Moriches including exploring a few new roads and dead ends with hopefully good water views. All and all, a neat 40ish or so miles.
We will not be making a stop to buy lunch during the ride. There will be a number of stops along the way, so please bring food you may want or need as well as sufficient hydration. Most importantly bring an upbeat inquisitive attitude ready to explore and discover.
To join the ride or if you have questions, please text Bill Mastro at 917-921-5358. I usually send the final ridewithgps file to those that text me. Any updates or weather issues will be posted to the ride listing by 7:15 on the day of the ride.
