Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.

This will be a C+ ride, which will average 11.8 - 12.3, partly depending on the winds, the riders, etc. Since the exact route will be determined at the start, so there willnot be a cue sheet for this ride. We will ride part of Dune Road (direction determined by the winds that day) and then take our break in Westhampton at the Beach Bakery, where bathrooms and food are available.
NOTE #1: I am limiting the number of riders on my rides, so you must text me with your name, SBRA Member Number, and Emergency Contact Phone Number if you want to ride, I will return the text: YES, you have a spot; NO, ride is filled. CELL #: 631-523-2129.
Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride - if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired. At these speeds Pulling is Important ! I would like to keep the road speed between 17 - 19 mph and come in at an average Hi 15 and Lo 16. Cyclists coming with "E" bikes must stay at the end of the bike line. Good stuff after the ride.
HAPPY FATHERS DAY! Thank you for coming out... We will follow the same route as Howard except, it will be shorter, and slower. I would like to come in between 13.8 and 14 mph +/- a tad. Trying to build up distance and speed so all of us can get back to riding a Low (14.5) B minus. In order to get this average we will be doing road speeds between 14.5 and 16 mph. Expect down hills and wind at your back to be faster. We will take a break at the bagel shop about mile 14. Things could change slightly due to road conditions and wind direction.Pulling is always appreciated. There will be, (hopefully) GOOD STUFF after the ride
If you have any questions, or concerns please text me at 631.484.3490. Should there be a cancelation, or change it will be posted by 7:30am.
Let's launch back into the Thunderbird Rides! This time we'll leave from the Dayton Avenue School for a paceline ride to places East.
The ride will hit Mill Road, do some cruising down Route 24 and then it's off to Pleasure Drive (do it at your own pace). Then we'll fly https://youtu.be/r6NtAwAMv1s past Grabreski Airport to Westhampton Beach.
After a stop at 25 miles at Westhampton Beach, it's off to the Casa Basso rise and Old Country Road in Eastport. This leads to Harts Rd. and Florence Dr., which takes us to the final run to the finish.
Lots of rolling terrain will make this ride (ahem), a real pleasure. Did I mention we pass by the Big Duck?
