This will be about a 30 mile B ride to McDonald's in Manorville. Distance and average are heat dependent, if cool, we can do more. We have been coming in on the high end of a B average ride. PLEASE BE FLEXABLE.
SHORT -- GULP and GO Water stops: 2 going & 1 on way back. MORE IF NEEDED
This is a scenic, mostly flat and beautiful 33 mile ride that heads out from the Speonk train station to West Hampton, Quogue and the surrounding area that in addition to the usual lovely roads, utilizes some less travelled ones with maybe a surprise or two. Please note that we will meet in the parking lot on the east side of Phillips Avenue.
We will be running the ride somewhat as a tour, enjoying the scenery and views.
We will not be making a stop to buy lunch during the ride, but there will be a number of stops along the way, so please bring food you may want or need as well as sufficient hydration. Most importantly bring an upbeat inquisitive attitude ready to explore and discover.
To join the ride or if you have questions, please text Bill Mastro at 917-921-5358. Any updates or weather issues will be posted to the ride listing by 7:00 on the day of the ride.
For this Flat ride the Average speed is 11.5-12.5mph depending on riders, wind, tide, position of moon and leaders disposition with a distance of 18-22 miles. Nobody gets left behind and newbies always welcome and well taken care of. Any cancellation will be before 8:00am. No need to text me.
Park in south side lot across from RR station.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride start, to allow enough time for me to get everyone signed in and to "get yourself" ready.
We will be leaving The Wharf and head to Blue Piont/Corey Beach for a 24 mile ride. The ride will be at a B- pace with an average speed of around 14.5 to 15 mph and road speeds that will reach 16 to 18 mph.
