Sunday change up! Heading up to Kings Park where we will take a Donut break at the Park Bake Shop before heading back South.
This is a B/B+ ride with an average pace between 16 to 17 mph+/-, depending on the road conditions and wind direction. The road speed will be between 17 and 20mph.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations, which will be posted no later than 7:30 am if necessary. My cell number is 347-677-4164; call or text anytime if you have questions about the ride or need directions to the start location.
Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride, if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired.
The average pace for this ride will be between 14.0 & 14.6.0 +/- mph, or what conditions allow. The road speed will be between 15 and 17.0 mph, or slower if needed for safety concerns, wind and, all that other stuff.
Please DO NOT PARK in the Meat Farms parking lot. Use the west side of the bank if the east side is full. Thanks!
We’ll be making a rest stop around mile 19 at the deli/bakery. The route back will be determined by the wind direction. Good Stuff after the Ride. Not sure what good stuff; it's always a surprise.
Any cancellations due to unforeseeable circumstances, or weather related problems will be posted by 8:00am. If you have any questions about this ride, or the start location, please call or text my cell, 631-484-3490.
This ride is a B+ out of the Yaphank Firehouse out to Nettie's. We're going to work some hills in with Mill Road and CR 51. We'll regroup as needed at the end of Mill Road (the Exxon gas station), then meet at the light on the top of CR 51. We're going to take CR 51 all the way to the Moriches Bypass to go to Nettie's (NOT CR 111). We'll stop at Nettie's at mile 32, with 13 miles left to the finish.
Please check back for any updates regarding start time... will post any changes by or before 7:30am Sunday.
I am posting this before i know what the forcast calls for on Sunday, so the ride will be on the low end of the B/b+ range around16 or slightly higher average. If there are going to be high winds than I will change this to a B ride. Netties will be our break.
This will be an easy C ride from Sayville to Patchogue, or Bellport, or Ronkonkoma ?? - direction will depend on the prevailing winds, etc. There will be a break & bathroom stop wherever we go.
This is a structured ride which will average 11.0 - 11.5, or slower if the riders need it.
NOTE: Park on the South Side of the train station.
Enjoy soups or baked goods, in indoor or outdoor settings. Bathrooms are available, as well as a room with a fireplace. For info: contsct Bill G. at 631-356-3036. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 08:30am. Strong winds could slow our pace.
Note that our start location is by the train station in Stony Brook on the university side.
This ride is for people who don't appreciate hills and/or want to find out what climbing techniques work for them. This is a practice ride. The initial hills on this ride are quite moderate and short. As we continue, we try some harder hills. We'll do C+ on the flats and any speed or lack thereof on the climbing sections. The break will be at Dunkin' at about mile 14. You will have the option to cut this ride to 17 miles if your legs tire. The remaining 7 miles will allow practice on longer, more challenging hills.
Questions before ride, my e-mail is (frchtchr@hotmail.com). Morning of ride, my cell is 631-835-1454. Cancellation for weather will be posted no later than 11:30 morning of ride.
