NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.

Lots of folks avoid Glacier Ridge as it has a good deal of technical and hilly sections BUT there are also milder single track and fire road sections that many riders can handle when keeping the speed down. Come along and I will be more than willing to wait if you want to walk any section that you feel is above your pay grade! We will start the ride by entering the woods and then walking up a short single track and ride down to a bumpy fire road.
Lots of the trail is pretty wide and ticks will not be a problem unless you dive into the bush ... Also, I will have bug spray available before the ride.
For faster and more skilled riders there maybe a higher skilled ride leaving at 9 ... you will be out ahead of the group I lead as we will go at the slowest rider's pace. No one will be left behind in the woods!
Check back to this posting early Saturday morning ... as Life Happens and Things Change.
Old school BBB route from Mattituck to Greenport, then the grand tour of Shelter Island.
The North Fork and SI should be at peak fall foliage, and all of the pumpkin pickin' traffic will be gone.
Pace will be a moderate B/B+, the route out and back from Greenport is flat to rolling, and Shelter Island is rolling to hilly. Group will stay together and nobody gets dropped.
Lunch at the Sterlington Greenport Deli after we return on the ferry from SI. Round trip ferry fare is $6, also bring along plenty of snacks and water for the ride, as the lunch stop isn’t until around mile 45.
This ride will only go if it’s a beautiful fall day, any ride changes will be posted by 6am the morning of the ride.
When you don't suceed try try again. Hopefully this Saturday's Morning ride will work out better than Halloweenie's ride last Sunday that was rained out. Any cancellations will be posted by Saturday morning 7:30am.
CHANGED TO C+/B-(since Tricia already had a C+ posted)
Come out and join me for this ride from Bellport to the Beach. We will make a bathroom stop at Wertheim, then a quick stop at 7-11 for any snacks or beverages on our way to the beach.
This is now a C+/B- ride, which will average 12.8 - 13.5, depending on the wind and the riders, and there will be cue sheets. I am changing the route on the way back to Bellport and it should add about 4-5 miles, giving us 29-30.
Note: If the winds are very strong, the destination of the ride may change.
Kick-off the new SBRA cycling season, with the Thunderbirds! We'll launch from the South School for a rolling ride out to Briermere Farms, (stop at around 24 miles). Since the weather is predicted to be nice, we'll try to kick-off the season with 43 miles.
It's been a while...so this will be a tame B+/A- ride...cruising speed outside of hills and winds will be between 18-21mph.
We'll stop at Nettie's at mile 30. As we make a left onto 51 we'll regroup if necessary. Sprint on 111 if you'd like and we'll regroup as we turn onto Chapman.
starting 9:30 instead of 9. hoping it'll warm up a few more degrees
Park in the lot south of the RR station. Ride to Bellport for our break at the deli or down by the water. Looks sunny but chilly with light winds, let's hope! Check back for any changes which would be posted by 7 am.
Come on my C paced ride of 18-22 miles at 10.6-11.6mph. Newbies always welcome and nobody gets left behind. Any cancellation will be by 8:30am. Park on North side of RR at end of road. Bring water and a snack as route will be determined at ride start due to wind, tide, position of moon and leaders disposition.
Mastic is dry enough to ride. Note start time is now 10:30!! Roads will have an extra chance to drain and warm up.
Waterviews and a stop at Dunkin’.
Questions before ride, my email is (frchtchr@hotmail.com). Morning of ride, my cell is 631-835-1454. Cancellation for weather no later than 9:00am morning of ride.
Same Saturday ride and route we've been doing, but I have a commitment in the morning, so we will give it a go at 1pm
This will be a fun and fast 50 mile ride out of Calverton, like the ol' school Jim Drago Saturday rides. It will average somehwere between 20.5-21.5 mph depending on the size and makeup of the group. We will have a wait up at the top of Little Flower and a quick stop at the SBRA favorite Gas Station (at mile 30 or so).
Hope to see you there!
Here is the route, please make sure to download it to your bike computer so you will know the turns:
