Support your SBRA Volunteers!!
Recently I attended two SBRA board meetings and last night I attended the monthly SBRA membership meeting.
The two board meetings were the most well attended boards meeting I have even been too. Virtually ever board member was present plus numerous SBRA chair positions such as Membership, Webmaster, Board Moderator and Advertising were also present.
The number of ideas this board and chair members are implementing and are planning to implement is outstanding. I am very very impressed with the enthusiasm and efforts of these volunteers to make SBRA a better bicycle club. Some of what I have observed so far:
• Due the efforts of our Webmaster and numerous other committee members we now have a new website that allowed posting of rides up to the day before the ride. This I am sure will give our membership a larger of selection of rides to chose from.
• A record number of constitution admendments was submitted by the board and will be published in this upcoming issue of Rolling Wheels. Amendments all designed to help SBRA become a better bicycle club.
• A New Partnership with Road ID to allow SBRA members to get 25% off Road ID products.
• Conversion to a totally electronic delivery of Rolling Wheels with plans to resigned Rolling wheels by adding colors, pictures and more articles to each issue. This action will also save the club over $4000.00 in printing costs with the money than used for more productive purposes such as keeping the costs of SBRA events such as the Holiday Party low.
• A new program to award free SBRA memberships to people who buy a bike from our sponsors. Each bike shop that has been approached so far with this new program has been very enthusiast and excited at this new SBRA program. Our Advertising Chair has been working on very impressive new brochures to promote our club. This program will without a doubt result in more sponsors for SBRA, more members for SBRA and more revenues for SBRA from both our sponsors and increased SBRA membership. Our Board members recognized that a healthy club is a growing club.
• Our Advocacy Director has been working with Brookhaven town on a program to eliminated dangerous road conditions for bicycles from our town roads.
• The boards is discussing ways to increase the numbers of Ride Leaders and the quality of the rides given by our Ride Leaders. A special committee is also reviewing SBRA Ride Leader Incentive program for possible changes.
None of above was my doing . It is all being done by our new SBRA board members, chair persons and committee members. I would like to congratulate and thanks these volunteers for their efforts in making positive contributions to improve SBRA. These members are a positive group of progressive thinkers and we are very lucky to have them working on our behalfs. I also asking all members to support and encourage this wonderful new group of SBRA volunteers. Give them your support and more good things I sure will continue to happen!!
Sincerely yours,
Dan Mussler
