NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.
For Other Events in our area and off Long Island check out the "Other Rides & Events calendar" and the "Forums"
To go more quickly back or forward "several" months click the "Year" link here or at the top of page.
This ride will be on Saturday dependant on how late the rain continues on Friday ... Check back to this posting before leaving for the ride as Life Happens and Things Change.
Calverton is one of the best begineer trails on Long Island, even the Black Diamonds (BD) are only Intermediate level. As a begineer there's only one BD that I might lead you down if you are so inclinded (it's really a decline ;-). If no Beginneers show than this will be an Intermediate ride.
This venue requires a DEC parking permit (haven't seen anyone being checked for a long time though). Easy to obtain a permit here: https://www.sbraweb.org/node/6490
If you don't have a permit you can park ~ 1/2 mile away at the Veterans Memorial Park and ride over.
Text me at 631-988-6557 if you plan to ride with me and I will wait at the start if you're running late.

With the predicted cooler temperatures and winds, let's do the Tour de Manorville again!
This will be a paceline ride where we'll hit the hills and rolling terran around the Manorville area, that will hide us from the winds and gwet us working and warm.
We'll do this non-stop, so bring two water bottles and enough gels and food to complete the ride.
This will be an easy C+ ride around Center Moriches, that will average 11.8 - 12.5 and will be taking our break at Nettie's. There are some very nice water views along the way. No one gets dropped and we will be observing spacing rules, etc. Since the exact route will be determined as we go along, there will not be a cue sheet.
The number of riders is limited, so if you want to ride, text me (631-523-2129) with your Name, SBRA Member Number and Emergency Contact phone number. I will respond to your text and let you know if you have a spot on the ride. Once the ride is filled, I will change to post to indicate that.
MEETING LOCATION: straight back from Wendy's and Dunkin Donuts, on the EAST SIDE of the shopping center.
Riders should arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride start, to allow enough time for me to get everyone signed in and to "get yourself" ready
The hills should shelter us from the wind on this scenic tour of the Nissequogue Beaches. The ride starts and ends with long flat stretches so this is a good ride to get in some moderate hills. We'll be patient and slow or wait as needed. I'm not sure if either restroom stop will be open so allow enough time to use the Cumberland Farms across the street to go before we go!
Park in the rear of the lot across from LIttle Vincents. Join us for one of LI's favorite slices after the ride (CASH ONLY).
The early bird may catch some worms but this group can catch some Zzz's. Then come on out and join us for trail riding at Calverton. We will do main trail and group can decide on a few easier diamonds or not Bring water (camelbacks work best) and snacks if needed.
Check back by 9 am for possible changes due to rain previous days
