We'll leave from Pat's place with a slightly faster pace, and a few additional miles for the ride to Babylon. We'll avoid downtown Sayville with the possibilities of carnivals and parades; places where the Killer Klowns frequent. You can tell a Klown by their behavior; they always jack-up the pace when they get to the head of the paceline - so don't be a Klown!
We hope to see you on this controlled paceline ride! Just remember to check the SBRA Calendar for changes due to weather on the morning of the ride.
Please contact me (text @ 631-988-6557 or email [nsamuels@optonline.net]) if you plan to do this ride.
Check back to this posting tomorrow morning as the ride start may be delayed due to wet roads.
So far the ride level is shaping up to be C+ to B ride. If you don't ride at these levels make sure to contact me.
Dick Cunningham lead this ride for years to help celebrate the birth of this nation. Haven't heard from the Mastic Historic Society regarding any planned event as they held in the past.

Update 7:00am. It is still raining in Holbrook, the roads are very wet. The predection is for pop up showers this am so I am cancelling the ride for today. By 1PM things are looking good.
Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride, if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired. The ride could end end up a mile or 2 over 30.
The average pace for the ride will be between 14.9 to 15.0 mph +/- depending on the roads, wind direction, rider ability, tailwinds, downhills, break-a-ways and other conditions. All of these conditions could change the final average one way or the other. Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -17 mph.) to produce the average.
If you are a rider who wants to step up from a C+/B- I would suggest that you – 1. Have been able to ride with at least a 14 average. Remember, my rides come in at 15 +/-. Look up my ride averages. You will be doing roads speeds between 15-17 mph. 2. Most important ask your C+/B- ride leader if he/she thinks this move up is for you. Naturally, if you have a problem I will help you along the way.
Please DO NOT PARK in the Meat Farms parking lot. Use the west side of the bank if the east side is full. Thanks!
We’ll be making a rest stop around mile 19 at the deli/bakery. The route back will be determined by the wind direction. Good Stuff after the Ride.

Tour of the 3 lakes. We will carry on while Mel recovers
The Lake Tour ride passes the 3 Great Lakes of Eastern Suffolk County, Lake Panamoka, Peconic Lake, and Wildwood Lake (in Southhampton/Riverhead). Cruising speed will be 19-22 with variations for wind, hills, and weather (+/-). The average usually comes in around 19 mph (+-). My goal is a smooth and predictableB+/A- paceline ride. Surging is frowned upon unless you are surging (dropping) off the back. There will be waitups as needed and the last one will be on Mill Rd at the intersection of Halsey Manor, Connecticut and Mill. Wildwood Lake is the half way point and besides the nice view with photo op, there is a very clean and pleasant smelling porta potty, probably the nicest one in Suffolk County.
Come out and join me for this ride from Bellport to the Smith Point Marina. We will make a bathroom stop at Weirtheim, followed by a quick stop at 7-11 for any snacks or beverages, and then on to the Marina for our break.
This is a C+/B- ride which will average 13.2 - 13.9 (depending on the wind, etc.), we will be observing spacing rules, etc.
Since I will be deciding the route as we are riding, there will not be a cue sheet.
NOTE #1:You must be a club member to go on club rides.

We are heading east out to Manorville .. exact route determined the day of the ride but we will get in 38 miles any way we go. It would be helpful if you text to let me know you are coming so i can fill out the ride sheet prior to the ride and to know how many people approx will be on the ride in case i have to split the ride.
We are heading to Smith Point, largely depends on the wind at an 11-12.5 pace. Either way there will be a food and bathroom stop. Check back here for any changes which will be before 8:300am. As always newbies well taken care of and nobody gets left behind. Also bring water and a snack as route depends on wind, tide, position of moon and ride leaders disposition.
Due to another commitment this week I can't ride in the mornings but want to get a few easy miles in. Park near the RR tracks for a meander around Center and East Moriches. Just a short stop near a porta potty. It's helpful if you text that you are coming, but not mandatory.
This is the same Firehouse 44 route. We'll start early and beat most of the heat. Tempo in this case referes to heart rate zone 3; everyone is different but that's where I'll spend most of the ride. Last week we did 1 minuite pulls on the return to Yaphank (worked out well); I'd like to try that the entire ride. Hope you've had a great July 4th and will be ready for a fast, fun ride.
Be sure to bring water and sun screen as the weather is now getting hotter. For this Flat ride the Average speed is 11-12.5mph depending on riders, wind, tide, position of moon and leaders disposition with a distance of 20-24 miles. Nobody gets left behind and newbies always welcome and well taken care of. Any cancellation will be by before 8:00am. No need to text me.

We can go to Mc Donalds if you want, but I would like to try a new stop. It will be the same disatance; around the 20 mile mark. This route is is a little rolly on Woodside. Then going back we have a small hill, real small. Not to worry you can all do it, no biggie.

You are free to fly on Floyd to the park entrance and up Woodside hill where an easing of the pace at the top will help all get attached. Since McDs is closed for alterations, we will go to Dunkin Donuts for rest stop.

Kreb Cycle in Eastport is now open and its awesome! Come check it out! We will start this Saturday ride at the shop at 8am. It is an A ride, which is a 52 mile loop down Dune road, with one brief stop in Southampton at Ye Olde Bake Shoppe (cash only), then back to Eastport via Red Creek, Pleasure drive, 51. Please download route below. See you Saturday!
Ride to Westhampton Beach Bakery where we'll stop for some morning treats. We'll take some scenic side roads along the way and then hit Dune Road for a short stretch before going to the bakery. At the end of the ride we'll stop in for a pint at BPB. Rest stops as needed. No one gets dropped.
No need to be 20mins early. Just be ready to ride at 8:00am.
Park somewhere between Blue Point Brewery and the YMCA. SBRA ride location should be modified since BPB replaced Briarcliff.
I'm looking to maintain a steady 20 to 23 mph cruising speed on the flats. Anyone wishing to ride a tad faster, Jeremy has a great ride out of Kreb Eastport. We are trying to provide a little something for everyone: North Shore, South Shore, Fast, and Faster. So many choices, such little time. And we're not getting any younger. So take a pick and enjoy!
Well for those of us who won't be able to do Gold Coast, we'll make a bold move and do our own (paceline) ride that will include some hills and rolling terrain away from all that traffic.
Roads outbound on the route will include Mill Road and Red Creek Road. We'll probably have a stop at Tully's before we start the climb up the Ponquogue Bridge leading to a fast cruise down Dune Road.
Hopefully, We'll make the connection, if the group splits along Dune Road. But, let's keep an eye out for each other, making the connection can wear you out :) ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFDicVQb0ds
The return will go through Westhampton Beach and includes the Casa Basso and Harts Road.

This will be an ***easy*** speed-controlled paceline ride out to the country and Briermere Farms. We'll be riding easy to recover from Saturday, so let's forget the average and KOM points and just enjoy the ride. We reserve the right to throw rotted fruit at anyone who jacks the pace up!
For those of you who'd like to move up a level, please feel free to come. We'll show you how to ride in a paceline, just be prepared to ride for long periods without a stop: this route has a minimum of traffic lights!
Wildwood Lake is the half way point and besides the nice view with photo op, there is a very clean and pleasant smelling porta potty, probably the nicest one in Suffolk County.
I want to try an alternative route from SSM to Manorville, which has been used by others including myself. I have eliminated the Horseblock Rd to Victory crossover by heading north on Station Road and taking a rt. on Sills. Caution will still be required as we cross the bridge over the train yards since there is virtually no shoulder.
I will ask that you please text me if you plan to join this ride. 631.804.0751
The ride AVERAGE should be in the high B range. Shared pulls will be appreciated.
Come out and join me for this ride from Caleverton to Briermere Farms, where there are bathrooms available, as well as tasty delights! No One Left Behind Ever Questions call or text cell phone 631-484-1650

Update -0710 -The Ride Is Cancelled. It Is Going To Drizzle All Morning

This week I will be guest hosting Jeremy's ride from the rear parking lot of Kreb Eastport. We will start this Saturday ride at the shop at 8am. It is an A ride, which is a 52 mile loop down Dune road, with one brief stop in Southampton at Ye Olde Bake Shoppe (cash only) *public bathrooms available at the break, then back to Eastport via Red Creek, Pleasure drive, 51. Please download route below. See you Saturday!
I'm looking to maintain a steady 20 to 23 mph cruising speed on the flats. Anyone wishing to ride a tad faster, Jeremy (hosted this week by Dan Rostrup) has a great ride out of Kreb Eastport. We are trying to provide a little something for everyone: North Shore, South Shore, Fast, and Faster. So many choices, such little time. And we're not getting any younger. So take a pick and enjoy!
This will be a flat to rolling terrain ride from Manorville: we'll head east through Eastport out to Dune Road. Then it's a long eastbound run on Dune Road, with a short stop at the beach.
The return takes us up the Ponquogue Bridge, then the Casa Basso and into Eastport, with a new turn.
The plan is to ride together and work together. That means not jacking-up the pace without regard to other riders. We'll have a few sprint points to really test who the big dogs are!
We will be leaving from Oakdale heading to Babylon. Our rest stop will be at the deli by the docks. This is a B- ride that will average around 15 mph with road speeds that will reach 16 to 18 mph. If you have any questions call or text Mike at 516 448-8545.
Park in the south overflow lot for a meander around side roads, possibly a stop at Corey Beach. We will have a bathroom stop but no deli stop so bring drinks and snacks. It's helpful if you text me you are coming but not mandatory.
Meet up at Coram Movieland shopping center. Park near Dunkin. We will ride to the Bellport Dock for a snack and bathroom stop. Should average betwwen 13.5--14 depending on group and temperatures. Please bring snacks and fluids. We will not be making full lunch stop though there is a deli down the road for emergencies.
Please text if you are joining us 631-806-9662.

So, this week we are going to drop the pace down half a step, so that everyone can ride together safely. W'll be heading out to the country (but not Gator Country - although we may see a groundhog in the grass), with a destination of Briermere Farms. We'll head along the north route, through the fields so no one should get lost. After a short rest stop, we'll head back the same route, with a slight change when we get to Manorville.
This is planned as a controlled paceline ride, so hijacking the pace will result in you being haunted by Hatchet Molly.
I changed the ride to a C because it is so hot and Humid I changed it to a C. Come out and join me for this ride from Maples in Manorville to Netties Bakery, where there are bathrooms available, as well as tasty delights! No one left behind ever. Questions call or text cell phone 631-484-1650
Today we will be going to Ridge. The route will take us to Farmingville, Middle Island, and Ridge. Around mile 20 there will be a rest stop at Taco Bell or Dunkin Donuts. From there we will head back through Middle Island, Yaphank and finally back to the start. Pulling is always appreciated, never required. There will be a break-a-way or two for those that want to go. If it gets too hot we can cut the ride down by about 2 miles.
Any cancellation due to weather, or any other circumstance will be posted no later than 0715 if necessary. If you have question about the ride just text me at 631.484.3490. Eventually my phone and I will meet in a reasonable amount of time...

I'm looking to maintain a steady 20 to 23 mph cruising speed on the flats. Anyone wishing to ride a tad faster, Jeremy has a great ride out of Kreb Eastport--Dan Rostrup to lead this week. We are trying to provide a little something for everyone: North Shore, South Shore, Fast, and Faster. So take a pick and enjoy!
