Due to unforseen circumstances, the ride to celebrate Brenda's birthday has been postponed.
CHANGE: We will now be riding from Eastport to Westhampton. This is a C+/B- ride, which will average 13.5 - 14.0, partly depending on the winds, the riders, etc. Since the exact route will be determined at the start, so there willnot be a cue sheet for this ride. We will ride part of Dune Road (direction determined by the winds that day) and then take our break in Westhampton at the Beach Bakery, where bathrooms and food are available.(actually tomorrow) and we will probably meet up for some pizza (personal expense) after the ride. Check the calendar to select your ride and follow the ride leader's instructions regarding signing up for a ride!
NOTE #1: You must be a club member to go on club rides.
NOTE #2: the number of riders is limited. You MUSTtext me with your Name, SBRA Member Number, and Emergency Contact phone number if you want to ride. I will return the text: YES, you have a spot…or…NO, Ride Filled...CELL #: 631-523-2129
The ride takes us through Poquot and Old Field before going to the light house and West Meadow Beach. We finish at the bottom of the hill!!!
There are no bathrooms at the beginning of the ride, the first one is at mile 20, though there is a Dunkin Donuts en route that may be friendly.
This ride has hills but we wait up at the top, no one will be dropped. There are also stretches where fast folks can go ahead. This is a scenic ride with frequent stops to look at the views (and catch our breath). The average will be mid 14 - 15 mph range.
Please text me to come on the ride - I need the info to prefill in the ride sheet. Name, SBRA#, emerg phone#. 631 542 3137 (note new # - old one still works)
If you thought this was a chance to crash Brenda's Birthday and Hijack the ride; sounds like fun! But not this time. Although Birthday wishes are encouraged! We'll be riding this one slow, especially up inclines, 19-21 cruising or less on the flats. Seriously folks this is recovery after some long Saturday miles. Hope to see you for some Sunday recovery.
Because it will be a little hot that day we might go straight back after Netties and it will be shorter and maybe a little faster. Join me for this scenic D ride, cruising speed will be 6-10 depending on the group. No one gets dropped.
We will meander around some quiet back roads of East Islip, stop at the beach for a snack, depending on the weather. Then ride the Heckscher Park bike path where we will wind our way along the Great South Bay on our return leg to Timber Point Golf Course. There will be a bathroom break in Heckscher park. Please bring water, spare tube, and a snack if you wish.
Always check back here for any changes before leaving for the ride
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride start so we get rolling on time

Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride, if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired. The ride could end end up a mile or 2 over 30.
The average pace for this ride will be between 14.5 & 15.0 +/- mph, or what conditions allow. The road speed will be between 15 and 17.0 mph.
Please DO NOT PARK in the Meat Farms parking lot. Use the west side of the bank if the east side is full. Thanks!
We’ll be making a rest stop around mile 19 at the deli/bakery. The route back will be determined by the wind direction. Good Stuff after the Ride.
Any cancellations due to unforeseeable circumstances, or weather related problems will be posted by 0730 If you have any questions about this ride, please text my cell, 631-484-3490.
