This is the ride which was rained out on October 16th.
We did this ride last month and everyone had such a great time (Pizza for some, then Ice Cream for almost everyone) that we are doing it again!
Join us for this easy and almost completely flat ride from Mattituck to Riverhead, where we will take a break at Briermere. When we return to Mattituck, we can get a slice of pizza (if you want) and then go to the Magic Fountain Ice Cream for a treat (if you want)! {all food is at personal expense}
Route may be flexible, due to the winds, so probably no cue sheets. The average pace will be 12.3 - 12.8, or so, depending on the weather and those in the group.
Please be aware the start is at the Mattituck Marketplace. Bathrooms available on Main Road in the CVS, across from the Magic Founatin.
NOTE #1: You must be a club member to go on club rides.
NOTE #2: rides at this time are limited to 6-8 riders. You MUST text me with your name & SBRA Member Number if you want to ride. I will return the text: YES, you have a spot…or…NO, Ride Filled...CELL #: 631-523-2129
Join me for this afternoon ride from Sayville to Oakdale and then back for a loop toward Bayport and the surrounding area. This will be an easy C+, with a ride average between 12.4 - 12.8, depending on the wind, riders, etc. The exact route will be determined at the start, so there will not be a cue sheet for this ride. There will be a bathroom stop at the Sayville Ferry terminal.
Park on the SOUTH side of the train station.

We are doing this again because Darlene was "under the weather" last week and missed it (and everyone really enjoyed the ride)!
Join us for this easy and almost completely flat ride from Mattituck to Riverhead, where we will take a break at Briermere at mile 14. When we return to Mattituck, we can get a slice of pizza (if you want) and then go to the Magic Fountain Ice Cream for a treat (if you want)! {all food is at personal expense}.
Route may be flexible, due to the winds, so probably no cue sheets. The average pace will be 12.3 - 12.8, or so, depending on the weather and those in the group.

If you want to avoid the wind chill this winter you'll come into the woods. This will be a relatively short ride.
NOTE: Venue has been changes to Overton which dries faster than East Setauket. Overton has a short gravel course which is really just a number of intersecting fire roads. If a beginner shows then we'll do the gravel course and p/o the single track w/o black diamonds.
The ride will start with a narrow fire road and then proceed onto single track that is well worn and relatively wide. You will be able to do this ride even if you have a department store Mtn Bike. We won't be deep into East Setauket woods but regardless, NO ONE gets dropped in the woods.
If I don't hear that someone is showing I may cancel the ride or do one of the more advanced trails.
SBRA insurance requires that Mtn Bike riders MUST sign a Ride Sign In sheet for each Mtn Bike ride. Please text/email me and include your name. I will email you a copy of the Ride Sign in sheet to sign and bring to the ride UNLESS you do me a favor and print it from here: https://www.sbraweb.org/sites/default/files/Ride_Sign-In_Sheet.pdf
You must have a mask on your person to ride though it's typical to be more than 15 feet a part in the woods.
Check back to this posting before leaving for the ride as Life Happens and Things Change.
This is a C+ ride, which will average 12 - 12.7. No one gets dropped and we will be observing spacing rules, etc. We will ride from Sayville to Corey Beach, where we will take our break at the Atlantic Ave. Deli. A bathroom stop will be made on the way to, or from, our break. The exact route will be determined the morning of the ride, so there will not be cue sheets.
Park on the south side of the train station.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride start, to allow enough time for me to get everyone signed in and to "get yourself" ready.
Watch for information on the website as John Bambach will be collecting non perishable food for LI Cares in memory of Dick Cunningham from 12:30 - 2 PM in the Sayville RR Parking Lot (the ride start location).
NOTE #1: You must be a club member to go on club rides.

This ride was originally scheduled from Eastport to Westhampton. However, since the winds there are predicted to be 24 all morning, with gusts up to 34 or 35, I am making a chenge.
CHANGE:The ride is now a Ronkonkoma Loop, where the winds are predicted to only be 17 or 18, with gusts up to 22. Since we will be protected from a lot of the wind gusts, we should have a good ride. Our break will be at the Gourmet Bagel Shop, where a bathroom is available. The ride distance will remain about the same, but I moved the start 1/2 hour later, to 10 AM.

This ride was originally from Yaphank, but I have made a change because the winds are predicted to be 23-25, with gusts up to 30.
CHANGE:The ride is now Bellport to Sayville (possibly just to Blue Point). Although the winds are predicted to be similar, we will ride into the wind for the first half, and then have it to our backs on the return. We will make a bathroom stop at one of the ferry terminals, and decide on a break stop.
I have left the ride as a C+/B-, but the pace will be determined by the winds. We will be observing spacing rules, etc. and since the route is to be determined, there will not be cue sheets.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride start, to allow enough time for me to get everyone signed in and to "get yourself" ready.

I've changed this ride to an Intermediate/ADVANCED ride as the wet leaves will be wet and ICY ... along with the roots and rocks. If you show up we'll adjust the ride to the appropriate level for all riders. The ride will be more than the 7 miles originally posted.
If you want to avoid the wind chill this winter you'll come into the woods. This will be a relatively short ride.
The ride will start with a narrow fire road and then proceed onto single track that is well worn and relatively wide. You will be able to do this ride even if you have a department store Mtn Bike. We won't be deep into East Setauket woods but regardless, NO ONE gets dropped in the woods. I will try to adjust the ride pace and difficulty to the riders that show up.

You must have a mask on your person to ride though it's typical to be more than 15 feet a part in the woods.
You DON'T have to arrive 20 minutes early and cook in the car or freeze outside ... just arrive with enough time to be ready to ride at the posted time.
Check back to this posting before leaving for the ride as Life Happens and Things Change.
CHANGE:ride start is now NOON, due to forecast of cold temperatures in the morning!
This is a C ride, which will average 11.2 - 11.8, for a new member who is just getting back into riding. No one gets dropped and we will be observing spacing rules, etc. We will loop around part of lower Stony Brook, and then go around St. James. We will take our break at the St. James Bagel Shop (food, beverages, and bathroom available).

Happy Thanksgiving Day!
Come out and stretch your legs before eating the Turkey (or something else), side dishes, and pie(s) later today.
This will be a C+ ride from Ronkonkoma to Sayville (destination may be changed due to the weather). There will be a break & bathroom stop somewhere, but bring a snack with you, as none may be available at the break location. This is a structured ride which will average 12.5 - 13.0.

The ride is relatively flat with a two mile optional down/up hill loop in Shoreham at the 3/4 point of the ride that some may want to wait out. Here’s the link: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/33536006(link is external). Take a look at the ride elevation profile.
The ride will be following the SBRA COVID-19 Guidelines. PLEASE text me with your rider information (Name, Member #, Emergency #, Cell #). IF I don't receive any text messages I may vary the start time a bit.
You must have a mask on your person to do this ride ... I've been able to wear the multi-layer mask at ready as lowered around my neck while riding and would suggest you do the same.
The McDonald's at Wading River Road @16 & 20 miles closed but there's a bagel place near by. We'll be stopping for a scheduled break at the 20 mile point of the ride.
Check back later for more info and on the day of the ride before leaving the house as Life Happens and Things Change.
Yesterday was Thanksgiving and you (probably) ate too much (but it is only once a year), so come out and join me for this ride from Calverton, where we will ride on the back roads around Manorville. Yes, we will take our break at the Bean & Bagel Cafe, but you will have earned the bagel, or muffin, or whatever else you may want to indulge in...LOL!
This is a C+ ride, which will average 12.2 - 12.7, depending on the winds, etc. The exact route will be determined at the start, so there may not be a cue sheet for this ride. The ride will be split into two groups if we get more than the limit for one group.
