Park in the far left hand corner of the library lot. The sign for the library is small so watch out for it.
A scenic ride around Strongs Neck, Old Field and West Meadow beach. Might be a bit slower than a B- because of the hills. Wait ups as needed, no formal stop but we will stop to look at the views and we have a slightly longer break at the lighthouse where you can have a snack (if you bring it with you!).
Please let me know if you are coming - text 631 331 5642.
For this Flat 18-22 mile ride the Average speed is 11-12mph depending on riders, wind, tide, position of moon and leaders disposition. Nobody gets left behind and newbies always welcome and well taken care of. Any cancellation will be before 8:30am. No need to text me.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride start, to allow enough time for me to get everyone signed in and to "get yourself" ready.
This ride was originally scheduled for 4/2, but changed due to chances of rain. This ride is especially weather dependant, so be sure to check for changes the night before and the morning of. To join this ride, text Bill G. at 631-356-3036 with your SBRA, emergency and cell numbers, full name, and date of ride. We meet at the Southold RR lot, with bathrooms at a nearby Dunkin Donuts. We ride up North for great views of the L.I. Sound, than head out East, passing some spectacular water views. We make a quick stop at the Candyman (best chocalate in town), make a right after the Candyman and ride thru Orient. We now head out to the State Park, riding on a peninsula with water on both sides, till we get to the park. Bring snacks and drinks for this stop. On our return we will stop at an historic slave cemetary, than head out for lunch at the Orient general store, which has great sandwiches, as well as picnic tables. On our return we make a quick view stop at the Horton Hill lighthouse (lighthouse is closed for the season), than head back to our cars. This is a long ride, so plan your day accordingly. Note: If I don't receive any texts, the ride is cancelled. If the weather out East is not good for riding, I will change the ride to a different location and ride start if other parts of the Island have better weather. Final changes, if needed, will be posted by 08:00am day of ride. Ride limit is 12. Questions, text me.
