Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. We will be heading going out to Great River where we will take a quick break at the Great River deli.
This is a B/B+ ride with an average pace between 16 to 17 mph+/-, depending on the road conditions and wind direction. The road speed will be between 18 and 20 mph.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations, which will be posted no later than 7:00 am if necessary. My cell number is 347-677-4164; call or text anytime if you have questions about the ride or need directions to the start location.
I'm filling in for Bobby. There will be little change in the ride as he has led it in the past, so I copied his description with some minor changes.
Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride, if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired. The average pace for this ride will be between 14.5 & 15.0 +/- mph, or what conditions allow. The road speed will be between 15 and 17.0 mph, or slower if needed for safety concerns.
Please DO NOT PARK in the Meat Farms parking lot. Use the west side of the bank if the east side is full. Thanks!
We’ll be making a rest stop around mile 19 at the deli/bakery. The route back will be determined by the wind direction.
Any cancellations will be posted by 7:30am. If you have any questions call or text my cell, 631-804-0751.(Bernie's Cell)
Join me for this C+ ride (average 12.6 and 13.1) around Holbrook, Ronkonkoma, and Bohemia, then down to Sayville and back up to the ride start in Ronkonkoma. We will take our break at the Gourmet Bagel Co. on Lakeland Ave., where beverages, food, and a bathroom are available. Adjustments to the route direction and/or distances may be made due to the prevailing winds and/or temperature changes.
We'll ride from Port Jefferson Station to Poquott, Strong's Neck, Old Field and West Meadow...the tradtitional "Roller Coaster" route in between it all. The pace will come in at the lower end of the B- (14.0-14.7) due to the hills. Bathroom stop along the way and bring a snack for the beach break.
Meet at the eastern end of the parking lot (bagel shop side vs. bank side). There used to be a clothing donation bin near Rt. 347 as a meeting marker but its gone now. So use your judgement when you arrive and I'll find you! NOTE: I'll be riding from home and will be there @ 9am.
This is a scenic ride with views of the Peconic, vineyards and farms. Coffee break at a deli in Cutchogue, and a break for lunch at Braun's Sea Food. In the same lot as Braun's, is Scoops and Grinds if you don't want a meal. Both places have soups, and restrooms. Braun's and Scoops both have outdoor shaded places to eat. For info: contact Bill G. at 631-356-3036. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 07:45am. Strong winds will change or cancel the ride.
Come on my C paced ride of 18-22 miles at 10.6-11.6mph. Newbies always welcome and nobody gets left behind. Any cancellation will be by 8:30am. Park on North side of RR at end of road. Bring water and a snack as route will be determined at ride start due to wind, tide, position of moon and leaders disposition.
Easy peasy and fun ride to the town docks by way of the Belmont Lake State park bridle path. The restrooms in the park will be open so we can stop there before getting onto the trail. We'll stop at the deli for a break.
Any changes/cancellations will be made on this ride post.
